I had an exclusive interview with one of the UAE’s popular jewelry designer Dana Faisal who owns the jewelry brand Wayed Vintage. Get to know the designer by reading her Bio and a few questions about her brand and what she simply can’t leave the house with.
BIO: My name is Dana Faisal , I’m a student at University of Dubai, i major in marketing. I am the owner of the brand Wayed Vintage. I started this business back in 2007 , when I first started I never knew it would be this successful. My love for anything vintage has inspired me to turn this love into a business. I love vintage jewelry. All the pearls, the crystals and the glamour.. My mom always tells me that I should’ve been born in the 50s haha.. Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn where one of the major inspirations in my life.
What inspires your designs?
Marilyin monroe,Audrey Hepburn,Elizabeth taylor and even grace kelly were one of the major inspirations. I always loved watching what jewelry they were wearing and what they had on..i guess it’s an obsession with that old Hollywood era.. I really want to bring all that glamour back!
3 jewelry styling tips ?
- Never leave the house without earrings on.. Earrings are feminine and can always spice up you look.
- Don’t over accessorize…too much jewelry will take the attention away from an outfit..
- Earrings, bracelets and rings could be just the thing to make an ordinary outfit outstanding, as long as you keep it classy and simple!
Favorite Fashion City and why?
Paris! It’s the fashion capital of the world.. Paris has a long history of as center of art and fashion, it’s the home of a lot of major fashion houses like Chanel and Louis Vuitton.
Tell us about your latest collection?
I guess the most exiciting pieces of our latest collection are the Vintage Givenchy clipons, Theyre from the early 80’s very rare and special, acquired from Paris.. Our latest collection also has soo many colors ! It has a summery feel to it.. In addition to playful studs we added some dangly swarovski earrings something you can wear with evening dresses and ofcourse the collection will have lots and lots of pearls.
What’s next for Wayed Vintage?
wayed vintage’s collections are being sold online and in Ush boutiqe in jumaira, they will also be displayed in many boutiques soon (which boutiques? that’s a secret for now haha ) A new line for Wayed Vintage called WV Elite is in the works, something very exciting and some might say surprising.. Can’t really discuss any details now so stay posted!

What is on your shopping list for S/S’11?
Vintage Chanel Kelly, turbans (which i can’t find anywhere), Sunglasses by SUPER ..That’s all i can think of for now..
